The SSSIO-USA Mid-Atlantic Region Women's Wing launched in June 2022 with the goal of supporting and empowering Sai women devotees. Since April 2023, the wing has offered a vibrant online Peer Enrichment Group (PEG) and an inspirational book club. Its latest initiative, Talk with a Doc, was announced at the Region's 2024 Memorial Day weekend retreat in the Poconos.

Women’s Wing coordinator Hemasree Kodavatiganti described the Peer Enrichment Group (PEG), and how it began meeting online since April 2023, with about 8 to 20 women joining each time. In a world that often prioritizes competition and individualism, the women's PEG offers a much-needed supportive environment. The meetings have focused on interpersonal skills interspersed with Swami’s teachings. They allow for women to share experiences, offer emotional support and navigate life's challenges together. Participants found the group combats social isolation, fosters friendships, and creates a sense of belonging to a community, where they feel heard and validated in a judgment-free environment.

One member noted how the open conversations also promote personal growth as members learn from each other and gain valuable tools and resources. A member found the topic of self-love especially helpful since women are often the givers in the world and find self-love challenging. Listening to the other women and hearing them voice their experiences gave her lots of insights and empowered her to take action. By cultivating their confidence and resilience, the PEG empowers women to become agents of positive change and advocate for themselves.

For women devotees who are seeking spiritual growth and connection, delving into books about Sri Sathya Sai Baba's life and message was a deeply enriching experience. In 2023, they read the Tapovanam twice and this year, 2024, they have begun reading Satyam Sivam Sundaram Volume 1. Sathya Sai's teachings on compassion, service and inner strength resonate deeply with many of them. Reading His message or stories about His actions often spark introspection and contemplation about one’s own life and values.

For Talk with a Doc, Sai women devotees, frustrated by navigating the complex medical system on their own, are able to receive invaluable assistance. This exciting innovative program will connect women with experienced medical professionals to gain insights and personalized guidance on a variety of health topics. Whether questions about preventive care or managing chronic conditions, or simply learning more about one’s health, Talk with a Doc empowers women to take charge of their well-being for a healthy future.
