Instructions for Accessing Festivals Information

1. Searching for Festivals

  • Search button: Just clicking on Search button will give you a list of all the festivals uploaded.
  • Using Keywords: Please type in the Religion, Festival, or name of the Deity/God and click on the Search button; you will see the available Festivals based on your keywords, in a list below the Search button.
  • Using Religion dropdown menu: Please choose the Religion you are looking for in the dropdown menu and click on the Search button; you will see the available Festivals matching the Religion chosen, in the list below the Search button.

2. Accessing Festivals Webpage: Once you have a list at the bottom of the Search button, you can click on the Title of the Festival to take you to the festivals webpage.

3. Accessing Festivals Details: Once in the festival webpage, you can click on the pdf document link under Details for more details and references.

"Days that are marked out as festivals in the calendars of all races and religions are significant because they have a deep spiritual meaning. They have to be used by man for examining habits and practices, prejudices and partialities, and for cleansing the mind of these. The attitudes and guidelines that are clogging progress have to be discarded and fresh fruitful ones welcomed. The days have to be dedicated for trimming the old and planting the new."

In celebrating all major religious festivals, Sri Sathya Sai Baba highlighted the common goal, which was to raise humanity to a higher level of consciousness and conduct. He exhorted all to make a sincere effort to understand the ritual and spiritual significance of each festival and celebrate them in the true spirit. Sri Sathya Sai Centers around the world continue the tradition of celebrating all major festivals. Since our SSE children have a special opportunity to participate, we received several requests from SSE teachers to include this topic under the SOuL initiative.

Since Fall 2023, the SOuL team has been engaged in a deep dive of Sri Sathya Sai literature, religious scriptures, and other original sources to compile this resource on the major festivals. The team also put in considerable effort into the presentation, including what to capture on the landing page snapshot. While the content is tailored to meet the needs of SSE teachers, it is a wonderful resource for all, including families and adults who are keen on learning more.

The SOuL team recognizes that there is plenty more material available for each festival, be it a song, story, or prayer. As always, we are open to your ideas and suggestions.
