Sai Spiritual Education students of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Greater St. Louis, MO, embarked on an exciting multi-faith journey to various places of worship where they learned about diverse beliefs, traditions and ways of worship. The children discovered that while people may express their spirituality in diverse ways, the underlying principles are universal such as love, seeing God in all and the spirit of service. They also had a deeper appreciation of Sri Sathya Sai Baba's profound message that "there is only one religion, the religion of love".

Young Adults (YAs) from the Sri Sathya Sai Centers in Chicagoland organized the annual summer school for K-8 children in Chicago, focused on science, math, gardening, writing, crafts and music. Volunteers kept the children engaged by adapting to their interests and through hands-on projects and fun activities. The YAs felt gratitude being able to help the children overcome challenges, build their confidence and achieve their goals.

Nine women members of the Sri Sathya Sai Group of Orlando gathered on Ladies’ Day and discovered immense joy in creating affirmation jars for children served by the Children’s Home Society. The beautiful jars not only contained candies and treats, but encouraging notes for the children to brighten their day and uplift their spirits. Through their sweet thoughtful gifts, women of the Sai Group exemplified the impact of small acts of generosity.

The Sri Sathya Sai Baba Abode of Supreme Peace (Prashanti Nilayam) in Tracy, CA brings together young adults, Sai Spiritual Education students and other Sai volunteers every Saturday to prepare and serve meals to the homeless. Recently, beyond serving brunch, Sai volunteers have begun to provide professional skills coaching to help the homeless secure employment. Volunteers have, in turn, been deeply moved by the gratitude, contentment and resilience the homeless have demonstrated through all their life challenges.

SSSIO members of Southwest USA contributed to the One million Sai Trees initiative by planting 32 trees on the Jemez Pueblo land in April 2024. This was a joint effort with Pueblo members, involving an uplifting day of cultural immersion in age-old divinely-inspired values and customs. It included a gathering circle for Tewa prayers and a traditional Butterfly Dance to bless the trees. The day was a beautiful representation of building community spirit across faiths that left all participants filled with joy.

The Sri Sathya Sai Center of Detroit Metro participated in the Farmington Founders Festival Parade to raise awareness of the SSSIO's service mission and its embrace of human values. The Adopt-A-Road initiative not only benefits the community but is also a rewarding bonding experience for Sai volunteers, who take great pride and delight in maintaining the cleanliness of their adopted road.

On July 20, 2024, SSSIO members in Northern California conducted a successful blood drive in collaboration with Stanford Blood Center. To their delight, forty-five volunteers generously stepped forward to donate 28 units of blood, with the potential of saving about 84 lives! SSSIO members look forward to organizing many such successful blood drives in the Region.

During the Memorial Day weekend, Sai volunteers from the SSSIO-USA Northeast Region began constructing 12 additional raised garden beds in the community garden at the Sai Unity Center in Lowell, MA. This initiative, started in 2023, aims to provide fresh produce for local families and college students. The project has been a collaborative success that fosters community spirit and sustainable living, and addresses food insecurity within the community.

The SSSIO held a free medical camp in Denver, Colorado. It was hosted by the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Southeast Denver at the Grace United Methodist Church on November 18, 2023. About 40 volunteers, along with 28 doctors and health practitioners, from across the region served at the camp. The camp drew 38 attendees of various ethnic backgrounds, mainly residents of three local shelters and recent immigrants who had no access to healthcare.

A tree planting event was organized by the South-Central Region of SSSIO-USA in the City of Lake Charles, LA. Sai volunteers from Texas delivered about 250 trees that were donated by Trees for Houston. About 12 volunteers from Houston, Dallas and Austin, TX, planted 50 trees at multiple locations – a hospital, a park and the local church grounds. About 200 trees were unloaded at Tuten Park for future tree planting.

About 75 Sai volunteers of the Greater Boston subregion of the Northeast SSSIO-USA participated in a Thanksgiving service, distributing healthy groceries and nutritious fresh produce for more than 300 food insecure individuals in the Lowell community. Sai volunteers spread news of the event, bulk purchased grocery items and fresh produce, assembled and distributed the food bags. The event left joy and gratitude in both the recipients and volunteers and highlighted the importance of addressing the issue of food insecurity.

Sai Spiritual Education children from the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Seattle Eastside made 25 warm blankets for animals at a local Humane Society. The older children, with the help of the parents, put together several blanket-making kits, held demonstration sessions and shared video tutorials, so the children could take home the kits and make the blankets during the winter break.

The South-Central Region of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organization (SSSIO)-USA partnered with the India Association of Southeast Texas, Beaumont, TX to arrange a health screening camp at the India Cultural Center on December 16, 2023. Five doctors and 30 SSSIO volunteers, many of whom traveled from Houston, Austin and Dallas to Beaumont, served 60 guests from the Greater Beaumont community, including several students from India.

Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Milwaukee, WI came together every week to knit 120 beanies for the 98th birthday of Sri Sathya Sai Baba and distributed them to the homeless in six local area shelters. The beanies were gratefully received as they provided warmth during the harsh winter.

Every Saturday about 10-15 Sai volunteers from Sai Prema Nilayam, Riverside, CA, assemble and pack 108 food items such as sandwiches, fruits, snack packs, and water. The volunteers disperse throughout the downtown area and parks to seek out and personally deliver the food packs to homeless individuals.

The SSSIO-USA Mid-Atlantic Region held a free health fair at the North Bergen public library in New Jersey on December 9 2023. The fair was organized in collaboration with local hospitals and more than 20 social agencies that provided valuable health information and resources. The fair served more than 380 guests, and provided them with free basic health screening, consultations with medical doctors, free eye testing and eyeglasses, meditation and yoga classes.

A vision camp was held by the SSSIO-USA Pacific South Region at the White Memorial Hospital in downtown Los Angeles, CA on December 3, 2023. About 35 Sai volunteers worked alongside 20 Lion Clubs members to help eight optometrists provide free eye testing and free eyeglasses to about 125 low-income clients without vision insurance. Many who had suffered from poor eyesight were moved to tears of gratitude to receive the gift of improved vision.

The Sri Sathya Sai Center of Boulder, CO, has taken on a monthly project of preparing and delivering peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the residents of the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, in addition to their regular feeding service. This allows the shelter to provide an extra meal it would, otherwise, not have been able to provide.

SSSIO members of the four Sri Sathya Sai Centers of the Greater Boston area have carried out free health fairs biannually at their newly acquired facility in Lowell, MA. The events, which offer a range of healthcare services, have served about 200-250 visitors, including many from underserved ethnic communities. The health fairs have also drawn several medical volunteers outside the Sai community. The events have been well supported by the local town administrators and community agencies.

A Task Force planned the event and prepared the ground, so they were ready to plant the trees on the day of the retreat. Plans are in place to ensure the trees thrive in their new home.

In the process, the students learned a lesson about the importance of nourishing the body as well and mind and spirit.

At the recent SSSIO-USA Mid-Atlantic Regional Retreat, about 30 Sai volunteers helped plant 27 trees at the retreat site in the Pocono Mountains, one tree for each center in the region. Led by Sai volunteers with expertise, members learned about the invaluable role trees play in the ecosystem and how the SSSIO tree planting initiatives are vital to saving the earth. SSSIO members were encouraged to continue with such tree planting initiatives within their own communities.

While the children showered loving attention on the cats, other Sai volunteers helped prepare various treats and toys and cleaned up the shelter. They all felt gratified having heeded Sai’s message to extend love and compassion to animals.

About 60 SSSIO members from Dallas, Austin and Houston, TX traveled to volunteer at a health screening camp for more than 100 individuals of the Greater Beaumont community on April 15, 2023, at the Turning Point Church in Vidor, TX. The SSSIO collaborated with several agencies who worked seamlessly with Sai volunteers from planning to the execution of the camp. A variety of health screening services were provided including blood pressure check, vision and auditory screenings, breast exams, dental and podiatry services.

On April 1, 2023, SSE children, their parents and teachers of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Seattle Eastside visited the residents of Aegis Living Center of Redmond. SSE teachers planned a fun-filled visit which included making beautiful cards for the seniors, singing to them, and small group activities such as playing games and coloring activities. Everyone enjoyed the visit and the SSE children took away many valuable lessons from their time spent with the elderly residents.

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, members of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Louisville, KY, volunteered with Louisville Grows, a non-profit, and spent three hours of hard labor outdoors to plant 20 trees in the Chickasaw neighborhood. This was part of a continuous community effort by Louisville Grows to plant a thousand trees a year to reduce the adverse effects of urban heat and create more healthy urban neighborhoods.

At the recent Southeast Regional Retreat in Fruitland, FL, SSSIO members planted nine trees as part of the SSSIO's mission of planting One Million Trees. Members carried out a tree planting ceremony, which included the blessing of the ground and the trees. SSSIO members were also instructed, both before and during the retreat, on the proper way to plant and take care of the trees.

The SSSIO Mid-Atlantic Region collaborated with the Words of Life Christian Center to hold a free health fair/medical camp for residents of the Bronx. Volunteer doctors and residents in training served about 130 mostly Spanish-speaking individuals with limited access to healthcare. Services provided included check-up for diabetes and hypertension, vision care and cancer screening.

Through a nationally coordinated effort, Sai communities across the US donated disaster relief supplies to help survivors of Hurricane Ian. SSSIO members in Florida received the shipment and delivered the items to local partners such as churches. SSSIO members also donated toys along with relief supplies for two Christmas holiday giveaways, including a huge drive-through giveaway where Sai volunteers spent hours distributing boxes of supplies, groceries and toys.

Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of South Houston had been serving the elderly residents of the Arden Wood nursing home for more than two decades until Covid-19 hit. In December 2022, 15 Sai volunteers resumed their visit to the nursing home by bringing Christmas cheer to the residents. SSE children entertained them with Christmas carols. Sai volunteers also distributed gifts and served ice cream.

The Mid-Atlantic Region of SSSIO-USA held a free Medical Camp at the annual Health and Wellness Fair organized by the North Bergen Public Library, NJ. The Fair drew more than 900 people who had little or no access to healthcare. This year's partnership with SSSIO allowed fair organizers to offer more specialized medical services such as vision testing and cardiology, and ensure patients had follow-up care in free clinics.

The Sri Sathya Sai Center of South Houston held a toy drive over several months and collected about a thousand toys for “Toys for Kids”, a Christmas event held for 5000 children from low-income families. Sai volunteers helped out at the event by sorting, arranging and distributing toys to throngs of eager children.

Since October 2022, volunteers from various Sri Sathya Sai Centers in the Southeast Region have been delivering much needed relief supplies to communities that were devastated by Hurricane Ian. Sai volunteers have been driving between three to ten hours to drop off the items. A coordinated regional effort was carried out over the Thanksgiving weekend.

They recycled old t-shirts donated by Sathya Sai Centers across the region and braided them into 91 dog toys, that were then donated to the Elmbrook Humane Society, Milwaukee, WI.

Since March 2021, members of the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Albany have been involved in a service project making blankets for children who are orphaned, abused and underprivileged. Sai volunteers have so far made and delivered 250 blankets to Project Linus, a nonprofit organization that serves children in need, and another 95 blankets to the Alpha Pregnancy Center.

After a 2-year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Bowery Food Service that had spanned over 40 years, and served 150-200 homeless people weekly, was resumed by Sri Sathya Sai Center of Metropolitan, along with other Sai volunteers in New York City.  Reignited by the fire of devotion and and a renewed commitment to Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message of service, they now serve 50-60 people and hope to continue to expand the weekly feeding.

STAR (Self-Transformation and Rehabilitation) at Project Pride is a 7-week program offered by the SSSIO Young Adults of Northern California at a residential facility to women with a history of substance abuse. While the goal was to equip the women with life skills and personal self-confidence to tackle their life challenges, Sai YA volunteers found that the experience had benefited them greatly as well.

This annual event sponsored by Shared Adventures provides individuals with differing abilities and their families an opportunity to enjoy various water sports such as kayaking. SSSIO volunteers provided and served food and organized various fun activity booths for the guests to enjoy.

A National Refugee Support Spotlight was held virtually on March 5, 2022, for SSSIO members interested in providing refugee support services. A video summary of the key segments of the spotlight is presented- a moving talk by a former refugee from Iraq, a presentation on an inspiring project involving Afghani refugees, an informative session on phases of refugee resettlement and future plans of the SSSIO. The spotlight ended with moderated breakout sessions.

The joy of receiving and sending greeting cards during the holidays is a commonplace experience that is often denied to the visually impaired. The SSE students from the Sri Sathya Sai Center of Central San Jose undertook a project to make this tradition accessible to visually challenged individuals by creating cards in braille - by first learning braille and then using a braille type writer to create beautiful cards with inspiring messages. A beautiful way to connect with our visually challenged friends in the community.

SSSIO Pacific Southwest hosted an Inter-faith conference on Love and Service on April 7, 2019, in Santa Ana, CA. About 150 people attended the public event. Religious leaders from the Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish and Zoroastrian faiths spoke eloquently on the key teachings of their faiths, the universality of all faiths and the principle of love and service that permeates their religion. The Cincinnati-Dayton Sathya Sai Center organized a Human Values Fest (HVF) on April 29, 2018. The festival was a family-centric community event focused on promoting human values through creative arts and music. About 100 people attended the event and participated in creative arts workshops, listened to inspiring speakers and were entertained by hip-hop artist Nimo and his band Empty Hands.
