Every year, the American Heart Association hosts a 5k walk/run in Atlanta to bring awareness about the importance of heart health.  The event draws several thousand people to downtown Atlanta.

About 50 members of the Sathya Sai Baba Center of Atlanta volunteered at this year’s event, held on September 28, 2019. They gathered before dawn wearing their “Love All, Serve All” t-shirts, all ready to be of service.  They were assigned to distribute water to the walkers, to direct them throughout the route in downtown Atlanta, to teach participants about healthy eating, and to share snacks with those who finished the walk/run. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time at the event. They also left with some additional training about CPR, a vital life-saving skill that could help someone during a heart attack.

The service that the Sai Center members offered, in all the various ways, was done with great love as evidenced by the feedback and comments they received.  The Atlanta Sai Center was also acknowledged for their community service activities.  A leader from the American Heart Association was very pleased to hear the heart-healthy breakfast Sai Center members serve to the homeless across multiple shelters in the city.

Being part of a large community event to emphasize the importance of heart health and to represent the Sai organization was indeed a blessing and every participant was grateful for the opportunity.
