Women members of the Sri Sathya Sai Group of Orlando usually gather bimonthly at a member's home for a potluck luncheon, to share laughter and engage in meaningful conversation over food, after which they get busy working on a service project.  In honor of Ladies Day on November 19 2023, the women decided to draw on their creativity to make beautiful Affirmation Jars to uplift the spirits of children served by the Children’s Home Society.

The Children’s Home Society of Greater Orlando serves Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. They offer counseling and various programs such as (i) Early Head Start for pre-kindergarten children (ii) Healthy Families that serves families in need through making home visits (iii) Community Schools that supports children by providing food and other necessities at school (iv) Targeted Case Management that supports children and adults with emotional struggles.

The Affirmation Jars were filled with candies and treats, along with loving encouraging notes for each child recipient. Time flew by as the women worked with joyous camaraderie to create about 40 beautiful jars. At the end, they felt immensely gratified as they surveyed their handiwork, imagining the smiles of the children as they received the jar. Because the children's privacy had to be maintained, the jars had to be dropped off at the Children’s Home Society for the staff to distribute to the children in various programs. However, not being able to present the jars in person did not diminish an iota of joy the women felt in creating and gifting these jars.

The story exemplifies the power of small acts of generosity. Through their thoughtful gifts and unwavering spirit, the women of the Sai Group continue to spread joy and make a positive impact on their community.
