For the past five years, the children and families of the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Center of Chelmsford have brought joy and cheer to the residents of  a local senior nursing home by singing Christmas carols and festive holiday songs. The children always uplifted the seniors with their spirited performance.

Unfortunately, the current pandemic had made it a challenge to carry out this delightful tradition; however, members of the Sai Center were not deterred. The Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) teachers brainstormed and found a creative way to organize a virtual caroling session. With the enthusiasm of the children, able support of the parents and dedication of the teachers, the SSE children presented a virtual carol singing program entitled ‘Sounds of the Season’. The children, ranging from pre-K to high school, dressed in cheerful holiday attire, presented an hour-long program of 21 melodious traditional Christmas and holiday songs to the residents of the Memory Care Unit at The Bridges by Epoch Nursing Home on December 19, 2020 through a Zoom session.

The spirited singing of the children was so infectious that many of the residents tapped, clapped and sang along with their favorite carol. The jubilant reaction of the recipients was very heart-warming to observe. The session was not only a lot of fun for the residents of the Memory Care Unit , but also a fulfilling experience for all participants. Singing to bring cheer and joy to the seniors, and sharing love with them was a fabulous way to conclude what has been a difficult year and ring in a new and more hopeful one.
