Bio

Sri Ramana Maharshi was a sage from India who began the process of self-inquiry at age 16 after experiencing fear of death. He was regarded as a Guru by some and as an incarnation of Lord Shiva by others. He advocated the path of self-inquiry as a means to realization. He also recommended the path of bhakti (devotion) and self-surrender. His authority was based on his personal experience.
