What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is a suite of applications providing tools for collaboration, discussion, and project management. This suite is available for use by the SSIO USA national committees and task force members.

Who has access?

An officer or national task force member with a sathyasai.us email account, has access to the Microsoft Teams suite of applications. Once you set up your sathyasai.us email account, you can use the email id and password to login to Teams. For additional security, you will be prompted to approve the login request via Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile phone or tablet.

Note: The document at the bottom of this page outlines the procedure to set up your email account. Your email id and initial password will be sent to you directly by the SSIO USA IT team.

 

How to access Teams?

Teams can be used in a variety of platforms such as Desktop & Laptop computers, Tablets, and Mobile devices. Please use the following links based on the device(s) you want to use:

Features provided by Teams:


Messaging:

You can send direct messages, video conference, or call other members using "Chat" within Teams. 

 

Project Planning:

Use the Planner application within Teams to record project tasks, milestones and track status.

 

Files:

Files lets you collaborate and edit working documents by team members. Documents can be shared privately within team members, or restricted to only specific individuals. Once the document is finalized, it can be made public if needed. 

Files also supports versioning using the built-in Sharepoint.

 

Additional Features:

Teams also provides additional features such as a calendar to schedule meetings between team members, OneNote, and  Microsoft Office suite to create documents, presentations and spreadsheets.

 

How to create Sub-Teams?

In order to create a small working team between specific members, navigate to "Teams" from the menu and click on "Join or create a team". Provide the team details in the wizard such as Team name, description and visibility. Once a team is created, members can be invited to join the space.
