Public Meeting in Spanish, New York City, NY
A public meeting on the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba was held on Saturday, November 5, 2016. The event, the first ever public outreach to the Hispanic community, was organized by the Sathya Sai Baba Center of Metropolitan New York City. The public meeting was held in Spanish, with simultaneous English translation, and attracted about 110 people, of whom 50 were new to Sai Baba’s teachings. The theme of the talk was “BE HAPPY”. The guest speakers were Leonardo Pablo Gutter, a founding member of the Sri Sathya Sai Trust of Argentina, and José Alberto Cabezas, who has served as Vice President of the Sai Organization of Central America.
Mr. Gutter opened by defining spirituality and the role it plays in leading a happy life. He gave several tips on how one can create happiness in one's life. He pointed out that acceptance was key to happiness: one needs to accept that everything that happens was destined to happen and that nothing happens by coincidence, but is His will. Moreover, to be happy, one should not indulge in criticizing others or gossiping about them.
The event was livened by traditional music by Andean musicians from South America. The audience also viewed a video about the Sai Organization and an artistic digital presentation. At the end of the meeting, attendees left with books about Sai Baba, a brochure with contact information on the seven Sai centers in New York City and T-shirts with the logo “Be Happy”.
