I preach to everybody to get rid of the body attachment and develop attachment to Atma (Self). So I had to show by example not to have body attachment and to ignore the terrible pain. That is how I could do so much work and give these many discourses. I do not take any holidays like you. No Sunday or any other holidays. Only holy days for Swami.
Sri Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 35/Ch. 33, July 25, 2002.
Sai Baba's discourses are published in the book series "Sri Sathya Sai Speaks". Discourses that Sai Baba gave at summer schools over the years are in a separate book series, called "Summer Showers." Sai Baba wrote 16 books, called the "Vahinis" (Vahini means "stream" in Sanskrit). They cover a wide range of topics, from the Bhagavad Gita to meditation to education.
Words of Sathya Sai Baba are true scriptures of the highest authority and authenticity. These writings are Swami’s streams of thought on a range of subjects: meditation, righteousness, wisdom, peace, divine love and a variety of ancient scriptures such as Bhagavatha, Gita, the Upanishads, the story of Rama, the story of Krishna and more. Originally written by Sai Baba Himself in Telugu, and translated by the late Prof. N. Kasturi, The Vahinis make even the highest Vedantic truths simpler and understandable.
