Search Noble Personalities
"There are many Nobel Laureates. How many remember them? But the great benefactors of mankind, the men of noble qualities, are cherished by all mankind. For instance, there is the example of a noble soul from Calcutta. Calcutta produced many great intellectuals. After a time, they are not remembered at all. But if today, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, an illiterate person, is enshrined in the hearts of millions all over the world, is education responsible for it? Likewise, if many noble persons are enshrined in the hearts of people, what is the reason? They have earned their good name by their faith in God, their character, magnanimity and. spirit of sacrifice. God has been the prime factor in their lives."
Sri Sathya Sai Speaks, vol 29, #2 [January 14, 1996]
Sri Sathya Sai Baba often uses the example of noble personalities to illustrate the enduring power of character, integrity, and faith in God. Through these inspiring lives, we learn that adversity and obstacles are universal themes. However, what sets these individuals apart is their perseverance, unyielding faith, and unwavering commitment to truth. These qualities not only make them exemplary but also provide us with profound lessons for our own spiritual journeys.
During the recent SSE Center Connect meeting, several teachers voiced the need to incorporate "Noble Personalities" into the SOuL program. Inspired by this feedback, our team embarked on a dedicated exploration in April 2024 to delve deeply into Swami's discourses and identify individuals whose lives have earned a sacred place in the divine narrative.
In this process, we also acknowledge the countless other personalities who, through their significant contributions to humanity, embody the same virtues that Swami emphasizes. While our focus begins with individuals highlighted in Swami’s teachings, we hope SSE teachers will continue to develop a personal collection that celebrates a wide spectrum of noble souls who serve as eternal sources of inspiration. As always, we are open to your ideas and suggestions. Please contact us at saispiritualeducation@sathyasai.us and mention 'SSE resources' in the subject.
