SAI Tutoring Program

Schoolwork Assistance Initiative Tutoring Program

With the ongoing COVID crisis, school children will be faced with many challenges over the coming new year.  Many students may have to deal with the difficulty of learning online.  The SSIO - USA is responding with a National S.A.I (Schoolwork Assistance Initiative) Tutoring project to help our communities throughout the country.  The goal is to identify communities schools, clubs and other organizations that will be hit the hardest due to limited resources.  Centers are provided resources to help them develop a team of volunteers who can provide help.

Initially the program will focus on children from grades 3,4,5 from underserved schools requiring help with homework and mastering of learning competencies.  Teachers can identify students that may benefit from math, science, and language arts enrichment along with homework help when at home.  A volunteer will connect via teleconference and provide tutoring. A formative assessment will guide and instruct students to assist in making higher-level cognitive connections.  The following resources provide valuable information on how tutoring has been done by the SSIO pre COVID.   Documents have been developed to help centers develop their programs and approach the appropriate schools.

On September 18th 2021, about 120 members, comprising adults, YA’s and SSE students, from Sai Centers across the nation participated in a virtual SAI (Schoolwork Assistance Initiative) Tutoring Summit.
